The Demangel lab studies host-microbe interactions and their role in the genesis of human diseases. Prof. Demangel is an internationally renowned expert on M. tuberculosis and M. ulcerans, both of which cause chronic infections that escape host immune surveillance. In the BAXERNA project, the lab will leverage its expertise in bacteriology and immunology to evaluate the top vaccine candidates against M. tuberculosis and M. ulcerans in preclinical mouse models.
